Inpatient Pharmacy Services

The Drake Center Pharmacy department, staffed by highly skilled registered pharmacists and technicians, operates under the following guiding principles:

  • The patient is entitled to safe drug therapy and cost-effective pharmacy services in the hospital.

  • The pharmacy team utilizes state-of-the-art technology to fill medication orders. Utilizing Pyxis distribution enables them to work directly with physicians and nurses on the floor, promoting superior patient care through safe drug utilization.

Range of services

  • Monitoring of patient drug therapy for interactions, including drug-drug, drug-food, drug-lab, drug-disease state, and drug allergy.

  • Monitoring of laboratory results with other Drake Center team members, suggesting appropriate medication dose changes.

  • Responses to drug information requests from health care providers, including physicians, nursing staff, dietitians, respiratory therapists, physical therapy professionals, laboratory staff, and others.

  • Detection and reporting of adverse drug reactions.

  • Drug utilization reviews to ensure superior, cost-effective care.

  • Daily provision of all patient medications, both oral and parenteral.

Hours of operation

Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Saturday, Sunday, Holidays - 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

A pharmacist is on call 24 hours a day for any drug-related problems.
