Most individuals with chronic lung disease — such as asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, or bronchiectasis (COPD) — work very hard to breathe and waste a great deal of energy in the process. Shortness of breath occurs with the slightest activity, which can frighten the person into avoiding activities that might trigger it. Muscles may then become deconditioned, and any further activity causes even more shortness of breath and anxiety.
Pulmonary rehabilitation may be the key to breathing easier, becoming more active and independent, and leading a more productive and happy life. Drake Center’s team of experts can help manage patient symptoms, reduce disability, and prevent complications. Our program is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. It serves as one of the satellite rehabilitation centers for National Emphysema Treatment Trial (NETT) participants at The Ohio State University and Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
