What is massage therapy?

Everyone, from infants to the elderly, can benefit from therapeutic massage. Using many applications and variations, Drake Center’s licensed and board-certified massage therapist directly manipulates muscles, joints, and soft tissues to enhance the patient’s general health and well-being. Massage therapy is utilized in many cultures to soothe aches and pains and support the body’s own healing powers.

How massage therapy works

Performed by Drake Center’s board-certified therapist, the direct manipulation in massage therapy has many beneficial effects. It can reduce heart rate and blood pressure, increase blood circulation, relax muscles, and improve range of motion. This manual therapy process can also relieve pain and facilitate medical treatment.

What are the benefits of massage therapy?

  • Relieves effects of stress.
  • Enhances health (boosts immune system).

  • Therapeutic massage - A technique that focuses on specific client conditions. Low back pain and tension headaches are two examples of conditions that may benefit.

  • Craniosacral technique - A gentle, noninvasive technique used to reduce trauma in the body. Alone or as part of a massage session, this technique improves movement, healing time, and overall well-being.
