For your enjoyment, a color television set is located at every patient bed (to request telecaptioning, contact your nursing staff). Selected radio stations can also be received on the sets. If you enjoy watching TV with others, large-screen televisions are located on every patient floor. A limited number of VCRs are available upon request from the Therapeutic Recreation department. You may bring a radio from home, if you wish; it must be checked by the Clinical Engineering department before it can be plugged into an outlet. Personal TVs are not permitted for safety reasons.
The volume of your television or radio, as well as times of use, should be limited out of courtesy to others. Headphones are available for televisions. To request a set, please contact the nursing staff.
Local and cable channels are available on all TVs in patient rooms. Drake Center also offers two in-house channels (2 and 7) designated specifically for patient use, featuring 24-hour-a-day programming. Channel 2, the Drake Center Information Channel, provides a variety of information — including details about Drake Center’s services, staff, cafeteria menus, current and upcoming events, messages from administration, and more. Channel 7 features Drake Center religious services (Catholic, Jewish, Protestant), a variety of special events held at Drake Center, selected in-house movies (Sunday at 3:00 p.m., Friday at 10:00 a.m.), and religious music.
