Financial counseling is an integral part of the services provided to you by
Drake. The primary responsibility of the financial counselor is to assist in
meeting your financial needs.
Based on information provided during your referral to Drake, the counselor
determines the need for additional assistance and verifies benefits with the
insurance carrier. Upon admission, the counselor will meet with you and your
family members to inform you of available insurance benefits as well as
your financial responsibility. In addition, the counselor or case manager can refer
you to Drake’s eligibility specialist regarding the availability of public
assistance or other government aid.

Every patient who has the ability to make decisions has the right to
participate in his or her health care planning and to decide how extensively
he or she will be treated. Your case manager, social worker, and physician, as
well as a Drake Ethics Committee representative, are readily available to
discuss your options with you. For patients unable to make their own decisions,
these Drake staff members are available to consult with patients’ family
members or other authorized representatives.

The Health Care Resource Center (North Pavilion lobby area, Level 1) has been established to help patients and families find answers to multiple care needs faced on the road to recovery. It is also open to community members.

The Drake Foundation’s Shepherding Program was established to support and encourage the involvement of family members in the patient’s plan of care and recovery. Assistance with lodging, meals, and transportation — a "home away from home" — is provided to families of newly admitted patients who reside 35 miles or more from Drake Center, and who qualify for financial assistance. Lodging is provided at three convenient Cincinnati locations.
The family needs to complete a "Request for Consideration" application to
determine if they qualify for assistance. This program is totally underwritten
by grants from generous supporters. For details, please contact the Foundation
at 513-418-5858 (within Drake Center: 5858), or Case Management at
513-418-2673 (within Drake Center: 2673).
Catholic, Jewish, and Protestant chaplains are available upon request. You may notify the Chaplain's office if you wish to have your pastor, priest, or rabbi informed that you are at Drake Center. A schedule of available religious activities is delivered to the room of each new patient. A meditation room is available for you, your family, and your visitors (Level 1, North Pavilion). For more information, call 513-418-2541 (within Drake Center: 2541).
