Donald E. Benson, M.D.
Dr. Donald Benson has served as Lead Hospitalist at Drake Center since November 2006, his foremost responsibility as Director of Hospitalist Services for Alliance Primary Care. In his role at Drake, Dr. Benson is responsible for coordinating the hospitalist physician team in providing the highest possible quality of patient care on Drake Center’s medically complex long-term acute care units.
His extensive professional experience is an invaluable advantage in his role at Drake Center. From 1999 to 2006, he worked for Dayton-based Premier Health Care Services, first as Director of Hospitalist Services at Fort Hamilton and then as Director of Hospitalist Operations for the entire organization. Prior to this time, he worked in an office-based internal medicine practice for ten years, then for two years as consultant for medical record documentation throughout the Midwest.
Dr. Benson is board-certified in internal medicine. He is a member of the American College of Physicians and Ohio State Medical Association.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. And he completed his residency in internal medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati.
