Merrill Shidler, M.D.

As an attending physician on the Long-Term Acute Care units at Drake, Center, Dr. Merrill Shidler provides high-quality care for patients with a wide range of complex injuries and illnesses. Drake’s services include medically complex, brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, neuromuscular, orthopedic, amputee, cardiac, and pulmonary care and rehabilitation, as well as ventilator care and weaning for ventilator-dependent patients.

Dr. Shidler previously served as a hospitalist for Premier Medical Services—at Highland District Hospital in Hillsboro, Ohio; Mercy Hospital and Community Hospital in Springfield, Ohio; and Mercy Anderson Hospital in Springfield, Ohio. He was chiefly responsible for establishing the hospitalist programs at two of these facilities. He also has extensive experience in both family medicine and emergency medicine. In addition, he has held varied leadership positions in medical academic programs.

A member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Dr. Shidler is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

He earned his medical degree at Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda, California.
